Why does it matter?
The largest contributor to the pollution in our rivers and streams comes from stormwater.
Where can I get additional contractor training?
GSSWC holds an annual Contractor and MS4 training each year in February (link to resources - training).
Utah LTAP provides Registered Stormwater Inspector (RSI) and Registered Stormwater Writer (RSW) trainings. (link to LTAP)
Do I need a SWPPP?
If construction disturbs greater than 1 acre - yes
If building a single family home, disturbance less than 1 acre, but is part of a larger subdivision - yes
If building a single family home, disturbing less than one acre and not part of larger subdivision - no
If commercial construction - yes
What is the difference between an NOI and a SWPPP?
NOI is the permit required by the state to perform construction
SWPPP is a plan showing how you will keep pollutants from entering the stormwater on your site.
How often do I need to conduct inspections on my site?
For Construction General Permit either:
– once every 2 weeks and after storm of 0.5 inches of rain
– Or Once every week
For Common Plan of Development
– If certified (RSI) once every 2 weeks and after storm of 0.5 inches of rain
– Or once every week
– If the inspector is not certified once every day
